Sweatcoin Explained!

Walking is among the best forms of exercise there is. It’s low impact, accessible and the health benefits are monumental. But while we all know we could benefit from walking more, finding the motivation can be tricky.

Enter Sweatcoin. It’s a form of digital currency that you earn while you walk.

Does Sweatcoin give you real money?

Currently, Sweatcoin can’t be converted directly into cash. It isn’t a cryptocurrency in the technical sense as isn’t based on a blockchain. Also, you can only use it within the Sweatcoin app.

How many Sweatcoins is 20,000 steps?

A thousand steps pays out at one coin — which means that you’ll get 20 coins for 20,000 steps.

How many steps is 10,000 Sweatcoins?

Using the same formula in reverse, 10,000 Sweatcoins will take you ten million steps to accumulate — which, if you’re walking ten thousand steps per day, will take just under three years.

What is the catch with Sweatcoin?

Sweatcoin, as yet, isn’t accepted everywhere. You’ll be funnelled toward certain purchases — which is how the app remains financially viable.

This apparent limitation is part of the incentive structure of the coin. Just as it isn’t possible to get the physical benefits of walking by paying someone to walk for you, it isn’t possible to obtain Sweatcoin without working up a sweat yourself!
